Beer List

  • Awards:

    • Date: September 6, 1997 (#2214)
      Package: draught
      Place: at the brewery
      Score: 17 points
      Overall Impression
Amber, very low carbonation and head. Nice spicy hop aroma. Good body, lots of fresh hop flavor and finish. Tasty beer.
Boulder Creek Brewing is not affiliated with Rock Bottom in any way, and they were in the area more than six years before this brewery appeared, but apparently Rock Bottom can afford better lawyers. At least that was the gist of the smug response I got from the bartender today.

    • Date: September 6, 1997 (#2216)
      Package: draught
      Place: at the brewery
      Score: 13½ points
      Overall Impression
Red-brown, flat, moderate head. Very very roasty aroma. OK body, not nearly as roasty as it smells. Not a lot there. Compare this one to Denver's Molly's Titanic Brown Ale.
    • Date: September 6, 1997 (#2219)
      Package: real ale
      Place: at the brewery
      Score: 16 points
      Overall Impression
Brown opaque, thick white head. Smells even more chocolatey than the Red. Smooth, sweet, with just enough bitterness for balance. Lots of chocolate start to finish.

  • Light American Wheat Ale or Lager with Yeast
    • Date: September 6, 1997 (#2212)
      Package: draught
      Place: at the brewery
      Score: 12½ points
      Overall Impression
Yellow-white opaque, thin head. Wheat aroma, pretty clean. Lots of wheat flavor, quick but not intense hop flavor, extremely clean.

  • Traditional Strong Scotch Ale

Golden, low carbonation, OK head. Very fruity aroma. Sweet, hoppy. Very clean, not a lot of character.
