This original Heartland Brewery is located on Union Square West between 16th and 17th Streets. Damned pricey beer here: $6 pints and an extra buck for Barleywine. Samples of all eight beers go for $11.95.

Since 2004, all Heartland beer is brewed at Greenpoint Beer Works in Brooklyn.

  Deep golden, thick head. Clean aroma. Medium-light body. Sweet, malty, buttery. Good noble hop flavor and bitterness, but diacetyl wrecks the flavor.

Deep golden, hazy, thick dense head. Spicy hop aroma with lots of caramel malt. Big creamy body. Smooth and malty, fruity and bitter. Nice balance!
