The Bay Area's first brewpub, Bill Owens opened Buffalo Bill's in 1983. New owners Geoff and Lance — formerly of Brewpub-On-The-Green — took over from Bill in September 1993. Fun place...highly recommended! Bottled beers are brewed by Pyramid Brewing in Berkeley CA.

  Very very very dark red, big brown head. Fresh bitter hop aroma. Big bitter beer. Big hop flavor with a good dose of chocolate. Long tasty bitter finish. "The Bitterest Brew In America".

American-Style Amber/Red Ale

Overall Impression
Same color as Buffalo Brew - maybe a little darker. Proper head this time. Aroma not pronounced. Faint malt and hops, but hard to identify. Bitter, chewy. Much nicer, although astringency is still too high. OK, wouldn't make a habit of it.

Red. Big bubbles on top of thick head. Smells sort of like iced tea! Fair body. Bitter (OK), astringent (not OK). Benign.

Amber hazy. Thin white head. Some off-aroma...can't place it. Not too strong. Bitter. IPA flavors. Nice hops. Good beer except for nose.

Black. Thick brown head. "House scent". Alcohol and not much else. Smooth. Very vaguely reminiscent of Guinness: sour but not overly so. Not particularly burnt. Not a bad stout. Needs more "stout-like" aromas and flavors, though.

Dark brown opaque, big brown head. Fresh malt and slightly grainy aroma. Very brown flavor, some astringency, lots of roasty flavor, not particularly sweet. It's a Porter.

Amber hazy flat. Thin head. Spicy hop aroma. Bitter, but good balance too. Big body carries everything well. This was always my session beer at Bill's...at least, it was if they hadn't already run out of Taz that day.

Darkish-yellow. Clear. Good carbonation and head. Hops...Centennials? Not assertive. Nice malt character, OK balance. Light body, but not too light.

Clear. Golden. No head. No carbonation. Faint floral nose. Smooth, malty. Light body works. Contract-brewed by August Schell in New Ulm MN. First beer I had here after the new management took over and made it a much nicer place.
